Starting this week I’ve implemented a plugin that will automatically collect recently shared items from my Google Reader subscriptions. It is in effect an overview of what I have been reading in the past week highlighting the most interesting items. Hope you enjoy them.
The plugin itself called RSS Digest hasn’t been designed with that specific task in mind however by some miraculous stroke of luck I managed to crack the problem. I’m no programmer so what might seem a trivial piece of PHP code took me the better part of an evening and a lot of nerves. The base plugin just wasn’t designed to handle the feed output Google creates, which deviates slightly from the standard RSS structure (two identically named < title > nodes on different levels), thus needed to be modified appropriately to display the list items the way I wanted it.
Now if only I could solve one other (bigger) coding problem in this blog I’d be happy…
